EU Climate Protection Law as an Object of Scientific Reflection: Remarks on the 30th Anniversary of Climate Protection Law

Abstract

This paper aims to show, in a synthetic manner, the development of EU climate protection law and scientific research directions in this field. The research aims to seek answers to the questions of what basic legislative trends are noticeable in EU climate protection law, which directions of scientific research in climate protection law have been most extensively developed, and which require further development. The basic trends identified within climate protection law development have influenced the directions (areas) of research undertaken by representatives of legal doctrine. Moreover, the identified trends in the development of this area of law set legal doctrines for several research challenges relevant to the need to ensure the effectiveness of EU climate protection law and to further develop („mature”) the science of law in this area. The contribution to this study is to stimulate reflection on the need to precisely intensify this kind of research.
