Abstract

With the rise of electronic payment transactions, the issue of unauthorized payment transactions has become extremely important, both from the perspective of the party affected by the financial consequences of such transactions and in terms of determining who bears responsibility for unauthorized payment transactions. Clarifying the meaning of the term "unauthorized transactions" – which, it would seem, should not raise any doubts – is, however, a problematic issue in practice.
