Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to present the mechanism that functioned in the past and the latest international mechanism providing compensation for lost property – the Registry of Damages for Ukraine. The provision of individual reparations for violations of the right to property (which is, after all, classified as a second-generation human right) in the form of the restoration of apartments and houses, and the prioritisation of these properties during the adjudication stage of compensation proceedings, illustrates the significance that the international community attaches to the right to housing. The realisation of this right could form part of the restoration of the post-war order.
